"Charlotte 49ers Basketball calls home the Halton Arena. The Halton Arena is located in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center and has a capacity of approximately 9,000. The arena is also home to volleyball, concerts and other large events. The Charlotte 49ers participate in Conference USA, one of the premiere young conferences in college basketball. Major rivals for the 49ers include Richmond, Davidson, Louisville, Marquette, Cincinnati, DePaul, Saint Louis and East Carolina."

"Conference USA is one of the youngest conferences in college sports having been formed in 1995. However, C-USA has quickly made a name for itself with its overall outstanding play in basketball and football, as it has in a number of additional sports. In basketball, Cincinnati, Marquette, Louisville and Memphis have become post-season regulars and the conference has continuously placed teams near the top of the national ranking. In football, Conference USA has frequently sent teams to bowl games and has bowl contracts with the Liberty Bowl, the GMAC Bowl, the Houston Bowl, the New Orleans Bowl and the brand new Hawaii Bowl. C-USA programs include, Army, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Depaul, East Carolina, Houston, Louisville, Marquette, Memphis, Saint Louis, South Florida, Southern Miss, TCU, Tulane and UAB." |
