About North Carolina State Wolfpack Basketball
"The North Carolina men’s basketball team plays its home games in the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena and the women’s basketball teams calls the William Neal Reynolds Coliseum home. The $158 million Entertainment and Sports Arena encompasses approximately 700,000 square feet and four different seating levels that is equipped with three concourses, 61 luxury suites, 2,000 club seats, 10,000 lower bowl seats, and 7,000 upper bowl seats, the arena affords the ultimate entertainment experience. The 12,400-seat Coliseum is known as the ""House That Case Built,"" and for good reason. It was Coach Everett Case who brought big-time basketball to NC State. The first game was played on Friday, December 2, 1949, as the Wolfpack men’s team defeated Washington & Lee, 67-47. The first women’s game took place 25 years later on December 7, 1974, when the Pack women downed Virginia 57-45. Major rivalries include UNC and Duke."
ACC Basketball
Basketball
"The Atlantic Coast Conference was founded in 1953, at the Sedgefield Inn near Greensboro, N.C., with seven original members - Clemson, Duke, Maryland, North Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina and Wake Forest - drawing up the conference by-laws. The University of Virginia was added a few months later. The only withdrawal of a school from the ACC came in 1971 when the University of South Carolina offered its resignation. The ACC operated with seven members until 1978, when Georgia Tech was admitted. The ACC expanded to nine members in 1991, with the addition of Florida State. The ACC is continually one of the most competitive conferences in the nations where the Maryland, Duke and UNC basketball programs are consistently ranked in the top 20 in the national polls. For football, Florida State is continually a national powerhouse." |
