Atlanta Thrasher History
"The Atlanta Thrashers are one of the more recent additions to the NHL. Joining the league in 1999 the team got pummeled in its first game 4-1 by the Devils. Although hockey and Atlanta don’t seem fit, the Thrashers set an expansion team attendance record by drawing 705,000 fans their first year. Now with the former NHL rookie of the year Dany Heatley, who won the All-Star game MVP in 2003, the Thrashers are looking to make some noise on the ice and climb out of the basement."
Atlanta Thrasher Information
"The Thrashers play in the NHL Eastern Conference Southeast Division. Division rivals include the Washington Capitals, Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning. Major rivalries include Thrashers vs. Panthers, Thrashers vs. Lightning and Thrashers vs. Devils."
Philips Arena
"Philips Arena plays host to both the Atlanta Thrashers and its NBA counterpart the Atlanta Hawks. The $213 million arena has been thriving in downtown Atlanta since 1999. The arena can hold up to 21,000 people and often sells out for such events like Jimmy Buffet, Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, Tim McGraw and Cher. Philips Arena was bestowed the honor of being selected to host the 2003 NBA All-Star game." |
