New York Ranger History

"The Rangers began playing in the NHL in 1926 and won the Stanley Cup a year later in their sophomore season. The team went on to win two more Cups in 1933 and 1940 but then went into a bit of a slump, not winning the Cup again until 1994. In one of the most emotional Stanley Cup victories of all-time, Captain Mark Messier scored the game-winning goal in game 7 against Vancouver Canucks to bring the title back to New York."

New York Ranger Information

"The Rangers play in the NHL’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division. Division rivals include the New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins. Major rivalries include Rangers vs. Devils, Rangers vs. Islanders and Rangers vs. Flyers."

Madison Square Garden

"The Rangers play in venerable Madison Square Garden one of the oldest arenas in the country. The arena, which went under a $200 million renovation in 1991 seats approximately 20,000 people for NHL games. The Garden is home to the Rangers, the NBA’s Knicks, the WNBA’s Liberty and the St. John’s Red Storm NCAA basketball team. The current Garden is actually the fourth arena in New York to be so dubbed after the first was built in the late 1800s and hosted the original Barnum and Baily Circus which was original called the Barnum’s Monster Classical and Geological Hippodrome. Madison Square Garden hosts a wide range of entertainment events including the Westminster Kennel Dog Show, the Harlem Globetrotters, Ja Rule and Tim McGraw."
