Toronto Maple Leaf History
The Maple Leafs joined the NHL in 1927 when Conn Smyth took the Toronto St. Patricks and renamed the team the Maple Leafs. The Leafs are one on the NHL’s most storied franchises having won 13 Stanley Cups. The team dominated the 40s and 60s winning five Cups in the 40s and four in the 60s. The team has had some of hockey’s all time greats including Jacques Plante and Terry Sawchuk.

The $265 million arena was completed in 1999 and seats approximately 20,000 fans for hockey games. Designed with the fans in mind, the focus is on intimacy and customer experience. The seating capacity for hockey is 19,500 with excellent sight-lines throughout. It also hosts numerous entertainers such as De La Sol, Avril Lavigne and Billy Joel." |
