Los Angeles King History

"In 1967, the Kings introduced NHL hockey to Southern California. The team quickly got on the map with hall of fame players like Marcel Dionne and Bob Pulford. However, the biggest splash the team made was in 1988 when they acquired the rights to ""The Great One"" Wayne Gretzky who went on to win the league’s MVP in his first season in L.A. With a talented nucleus, the Kings hope to bring their first Stanley Cup to Southern California in the near future."

Los Angeles King Information

"The Kings play in the NHL’s Western Conference Pacific Division. Division rivals include Anaheim Mighty Ducks, San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars and Phoenix Coyotes. Major rivalries include Kings vs. Oilers, Kings vs. Phoenix and Kings vs. Sharks."

"The Staples Center has been home to the Kings since the beginning of the 1999 season. The arena is home to five professional sport franchises, the NBA’s Lakers and Clippers, the Kings, the AFL’s L.A. Avengers and the WNBA’s L.A. Sparks. Since it’s opening in October of 1999, the Staples Center has hosted such entertainers as Madonna, N’Sync, Depeche Mode and the 42nd and 43rd Grammy Awards. The $330 million facility can seat up to 20,000 people for hockey games. The venue also set a record as with home-office supplier Staples forking up $100 million for the naming rights to the arena."
