Philadelphia Flyer History

"The Flyers joined the NHL in 1967 and quickly established a reputation for being one of the toughest teams in the league. Nicknamed the ""Broad Street Bullies"" for their tough style of play (and the fact their stadium is located on Broad Street) the Flyers were the team to beat in the late 70s and early 80s. The Fly-guys have won two Stanley Cups, back-to-back conquests in 1974 and 1975. Although they struggled in the late 80s and early 90s the Flyers re-emerged on the NHL landscape led by the same physical style that catapulted former teams to the title. The Flyers are consistently one of the most competitive teams in the league though they have yet to translate regular season success to post-season victories."

Philadelphia Flyer Information

"The Flyers play in the NHL’s Eastern Conference Atlantic Division. Division rivals include the New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins. Major rivalries include Flyers vs. Rangers, Flyers vs. Devils, Flyers vs. Bruins and Flyers vs. Senators."

First Union Center

"The Flyers call the First Union Center their home and have since 1996. The $206 million facility seats more than 21,000 screaming fans for hockey games and also serves as the home to the NBA’s 76ers. The arena includes several interactive exhibits and a microbrewery inside. The First Union Center also hosts entertainers such as the Dave Matthews Band, Phish, Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen."
