New Jersey Devil History
"The New Jersey Devils have been a fixture on the NHL landscape since 1982. In that time, there have been many great players, great moments and two Stanley Cup Championships, most recently in the 2000 season. The Devils take their name from a mythical Devil who supposedly roams the Jersey Pinelands. There are many different versions of the birth of the Jersey Devil. One of the most popular legends says a Mrs. Shrouds of Leeds Point, NJ made a wish that if she ever had another child, she want it to be a devil."
