Seattle Seahawk History

"The Seahawks have been bringing professional football to the Pacific Northwest since 1976. Seattle was respectable in its first few seasons finishing with a 9-7 record. The Seahawks clinched their first playoff birth in 1983, with a victory over the Patriots. The following year, the Seahawks retired #12, in honor of their fans who they dubbed the 12th man. The team became the first in professional sports to retire a jersey in honor of their fans. In 1987, WR Steve Largent became, at the time, the NFL’s all-time leading receiver when he caught six passes top leave him with 751. In 1990, the Seahawk defense set an NFL record for allowing the fewest rushing first downs (0) and the fewest rushing yards (13) in a game. In 1999, the Seahawks hired Mike Holmgren to be their GM and coach."

Seahawk Stadium

"The Seahawks play their home games in Seahawk Stadium located in downtown Seattle. The $300 million stadium opened in 2002 and seats approximately 67,000 fans for football games. The stadium includes, 10,000 club seats; 100 sideline suites and 16 field-level suites that offer a breathtaking view of the downtown Seattle skyline. The roof is designed so that 70 percent of the seats are protected from the elements, while leaving the natural grass playing field exposed. In addition, the 325,000-square-foot Exhibition Center provides an extraordinary stage for consumer shows and community events, as well as pre-and-post-game events."
