Miami Dolphin History
"The Dolphins made their debut on the NFL landscape in 1965. Although the team suffered through a few losing seasons in the beginning their fortunes changed with the drafting of QB Bob Griese. Three-years after drafting Griese the Dolphins would hire Coach Don Shula in 1970. The following year the team would win the AFC East complete with a victory over the Chiefs in the AFC semifinal playoffs that is the longest game in football history (82 minutes 40 seconds). In 1972-72 season the Dolphins would make history going undefeated for the entire season culminating in a victory in Super Bowl VII over Washington. This remains as the NFL’s only unbeaten team. The Dolphins would win the Super Bowl in ’74, beating the Minnesota 24-7. The team would make another huge splash n 1983 when it drafted QB Dan Marino from Pittsburgh. Marino would go on to set almost every possible record for a QB although he never won a title."
