Cleveland Brown History

"The Cleveland Browns date their football heritage in 1945 when they team joined the AFL. The first game the team played in the '50s, though was against the Philladelphia Eagles (the 1949 NFL Champs) and set the tone for many NFL seasons to come. By the end of the decade, charter members of the Cleveland Browns such as Otto Graham and Marion Motley were gone, but a new flock of players such as Jim Brown were ready to step up and fill the shoes of these players. The 1964 squad, under Blanton Collier, won Cleveland's last pro football championship. The 1980's were much kinder to the Browns than the 70's proved to be. The Browns made the playoffs seven times, culminating with 3 AFC Championship appearances. Marty Schottenheimer took the club to the playoffs all 4 of his full seasons at the helm. After giving a strong showing in the '89 season, Cleveland completely fell apart in 1990. It was an omen of things to come. The team played its last game in Cleveland in 1995 and moved to Baltimore. However, four years later, the city was granted an expansion team and voted to name it the Browns."

Cleveland Brown Information

"The Browns play in the American Football Conference North Division. Division rivals include the Cincinnati Bengals, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens. Major rivalries include Browns vs. Ravens and Browns vs. Steelers."

Cleveland Brown Stadium

"The Browns play their home games in Cleveland Brown Stadium located in downtown Cleveland. The $283 million stadium was opened in 1999 and seats approximately 72,000 fans for football games. Architectural gaps in the seating bowl at Cleveland Browns Stadium at the Southeast and Southwest entrance plazas allow visitors to view the field and the inside of the Stadium even when the Browns aren’t playing. These gaps and the upper level bridges connecting the sideline and end zone seating also allow ticket holders to see the downtown skyline."
