White Sox
History
"The White Sox have called Chicago home since 1900. The team was successful until the Black Sox scandal of 1919 rocked the sports world. In 1959, the ChiSox won their first American League pennant. In 1971, Bill Melton became the first White Sox player to the win the home run crown when he hit hiss 33rd dinger of the year on the last game of the season. In 1981, a new era in White Sox baseball began. An ownership group headed by Jerry Reinsdorf and Eddie Einhorn purchased the club from a group headed by Bill Veeck. Reinsdorf and Einhorn gave the club instant credibility just a few weeks later by signing free agent catcher Carlton Fisk, a World Series hero with the Red Sox in 1975."

U.S. Cellular Field
"The White Sox play in U.S. Cellular Field in the heart of Chicago. The $167 million stadium was built in 1991 and features eight-foot fences. The 1,300,000-square-foot stadium has 12 escalators, 11 elevators, three industrial-strength garbage compactors, a fireworks launching pad beyond center field, and six outdoor pet-check kennels. The ballpark is in the process of being renovated during the off-season in anticipation of the 2003 All-Star game. Before the 2001 season, three rows of seats were added along the field between the dugouts and the foul poles. The bullpens were moved and replaced with additional bleachers."
