Minnesota Twin
History
"The Twins landed on the baseball map in 1960 after the Washington Senators made the move to the mid-West. In 1964 Tony Oliva made his debut for the team and became the first player in MLB history to win back-to-back batting titles in his first two seasons. The following year, the team won its first pennant in Minnesota. In 1967, Rod Carew made his debut with the big league franchise. In 1974, Harmon Killebrew played his last game in a Twins uniform capping off a great run in which he hit 559 home-runs with the team. In ’77, Carew won the MVP for the team leading the league in average, hits, runs scored and triples. In 1987, the Twins brought the first world championship to Minnesota as they beat the Cardinals in 7 games to win the World Series. In 1991, the Twins won the World Series beating Atlanta 1-0 in ten innings in Game 7. Jack Morris, Kirby Puckett and A.L. Rookie of the Year Chuck Knoblauch led the team. Five of the seven games were decided by one run, five were decided in the last at-bat and three games went into extra innings."

Hubert Humphrey Metrodome
"The Twins play their home games in the Hubert Humphrey Metrodome located in downtown Minneapolis. The NFL’s Vikings share the venue with the Twins. The $68 million stadium opened in 1982 and can accommodate approximately 56,000 people for baseball games. The Metrodome is covered by more than 10 acres of Teflon-coated fiberglass. It is the only air-supported dome in the major leagues, and fans enter the park through revolving doors that prevent release of the air that keeps the dome upright. The roof requires 250,000 cubic feet of air pressure per minute to remain inflated, and on at least three occasions slight tears caused by heavy snows have caused the roof to deflate. The right-field wall is 23 feet tall and covered with plastic. Called ""the Big Blue Baggy"" and ""Hefty Bag"" by players, the plastic-coated fence hides 7,600 retractable seats that are used when the stadium is in its football configuration."
