History
"The Red Sox trace their history to the beginning of the 20th century. With players like Cy Young and Tris Speaker, the Red Sox were the team to beat in the early years of the league. In 1914, the club signed a young player from the Orioles (then a minor league team) named Babe Ruth. Ruth would come to define the Sox, not for what he did with the team, but what happened after they sold him to the hated Yankees. From the day they sold the Babe in 1918 the Red Sox haven’t won a championship since while the Yankees have become the team of the millennium. However, the Red Sox have been close a few times. In 1939, Ted Williams, sometimes referred to as the greatest hitter who ever lived, made his debut for the BoSox. His tremendous career was interrupted twice -- once when Williams served in World War II from 1942-1946, and again in 1952-1953 when he missed almost the entire seasons serving in the Korean Conflict. Nevertheless, Williams still amassed 521 home runs, including a dramatic farewell homer on his last at bat in 1960. Williams is also the last player in Major League history to bat over .400. The Red Sox have had plenty of great players over the year, legends such as Carl Yastremski, Carlton Fisk, Jim Rice and Fred Lynn, to modern era players Pedro Martinez, Roger Clemens (who is now reviled in Boston for going to the Yankees) and Nomar Garciaparra."

Information
"The Red Sox play in the American League East Division. Division rivals include the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Toronto Blue Jays. Major rivalries include Red Sox vs. Yankees, Red Sox vs. Mariners and Red Sox vs. A’s."
Fenway Park
"The Red Sox play their home games in venerable Fenway Park. Though generations have come and gone, Fenway Park remains, much like it did the day it opened on April 20, 1912. The park, which cost $650,00 in 1912, seats approximately 34,000 people. Fenway is one of baseball’s most treasured parks and features a 37-foot tall right field wall nicknamed ""The Green Monster"". The park also includes a manually operated scoreboard that displays the line score and scores of other American League games. The Red Sox haven't always been the only tenants at Fenway. The AFL’s Boston Patriots played there from 1963-68 and the Boston Redskins (later the Washington Redskins) played there before that. The Boston Yanks and the Boston College and Boston University football teams also played there."
