History
The San Diego Padres Baseball Club made their major league debut on April 8 1968 with a 2-1 victory over Houston in front of 23,370 fans at what was then called San Diego Stadium. The Padres have been to the World Series twice. They advanced the first time in 1984 by defeating the Chicago Cubs in 5 games to win the National League Pennant, before falling to the Detroit Tigers in 5 Games. In 1998 the Padres again advanced to the Series, this time be challenged by the Legendary New York Yankees. The Yankees swept the 1998 series 4-0.

The San Diego Padres Baseball Club plays their home games in Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego CA but will soon be moving to Petco Park in Downtown San Diego. The Padres play in the National League West Division. Division rivals include the Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants. Major game rivalries include Padres vs. Dodgers, Padres vs. Diamondbacks, Padres vs. Giants and Padres vs. Rockies.

Qualcomm Stadium is home to the San Diego Padres, San Diego Padres, and the SDSU San Diego State University Aztecs Football team. The Padres will be moving to their new ballpark, Petco Ball Park, at the beginning of the 2004 Season."
