Los Angeles Dodger
History
"The history of the Dodgers dates back to the end of the 19th century. Originally the Brooklyn Dodgers, the team spent almost half a century in New York before moving 3,000 miles away to Los Angeles. The team has many memories from its days in Brooklyn including many pennants, playing in fabled Ebbets field and signing Jackie Robinson, the league’s first black player in 1947. In 1955, the Dodgers defeated the Yankees and won their first World Series. In 1958, the team moved to L.A. and played its first game on the West Coast. The following year, the Dodgers brought the first World Series title to California when they beat the White Sox in six games. The Dodgers have had so many dominant players in their history. From Koufax to Robinson and Willie Davis and Don Drysdale the Dodgers were the team of the 60s. In 1988, the Dodgers produced one of the most memorable moments in World Series history when they beat the heavily favored Oakland A’s. Fans will long remember Kirk Gibson’s game winning pinch-hit home run in the bottom of the ninth of the first game of the series."

Known as a pitcher’s park, Dodger Stadium and Chicago’s Wrigley Field were the only National League parks built exclusively for baseball until Coors Field was built in ’95. The California Angels shared Dodger Stadium from April 17, 1962 until September 22, 1965. The stadium was known as Chavez Ravine when the Angels were playing there. More than 100 million fans have watched Dodger games at Dodger Stadium over 40 years, an average of more than 2.68 million fans per season. Dodger fans have witnessed 3,095 regular-season games at Dodger Stadium, including a 1,726-1,288 (.573) record posted by the Dodgers. In 1978, Dodger Stadium became the first ballpark to host more than three million fans in a season when the Dodgers drew 3,347,845 in attendance."
