Portland Trail Blazers
History
"The Portland Trailblazer entered the league in 1970 and like most expansion teams, languished at the bottom of the standings for years. However, once they landed hall of fame player Bill Walton the team went on to win the NBA championship in 1977. The team has had one of the leagues all time great coaches in Jack Ramsey as well as one of its best guards in Clyde Drexler. The current Trailblazer squad consists of a lot of talent, but little chemistry. Coach Maurice Cheeks (the former Sixer assistant and player) was brought in to help the team to gel. With the talent the team has it would be no surprise to see them contending in the Western Conference for the foreseeable future."
Portland Trail Blazers Information
"The Trailblazers play in the Western Conference Pacific Division. Division rivals include the Golden State Warriors, L.A. Clippers, L.A. Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns and the Seattle Supersonics. Major rivalries include Trailblazers vs. Kings, Trailblazers vs. Mavericks, Trailblazers vs. Lakers and Trailblazers vs. Pacers."
Rose Garden
"The Trailblazers play in the Rose Garden in downtown Portland. The $262 million arena opened in 1995 and is also home to the Portland State men’s basketball team. The Rose Garden is a flexible, multi-purpose facility hosting a variety of events including NBA and college basketball, professional hockey, indoor soccer, indoor track & field, gymnastics, major concerts, monster truck rallies, rodeo and bull riding, circuses, ice shows, boxing, wrestling, and convention and trade shows. Total capacity for NBA Basketball is over 21,300." |
