Phoenix Sun History

"The Phoenix Suns came into existence in 1968 and like most expansion teams, suffered through some tough seasons before becoming competitive. The team turned it around in the late 70s and made it to the NBA finals but lost to the Celtics. In the early 90s the Suns posted four consecutive 50 win seasons behind sharp shooter Dan Majerle and three point specialist Jeff Hornecek. The Suns would land big man Charles Barkley in a major trade with Philadelphia but could never get over the hump and win a championship. The current roster missed the playoffs for the first time in 14 years in 2002 but hopes to get back to its winning ways."
