Houston Rocket
History
"The Houston Rockets, originally the San Diego Rockets before moving to Houston in 1971, are home to the big man. From Moses Malone to Ralph Sampson to Hakeem Olujawon the team has had some of the all-time best at the center position. The team won back-to-back NBA titles in ’94 and ’95 behind the veteran leadership of Olujawon and the inspired play of rookie Sam Cassell. The Rockets came close again in the late ‘90s when they acquired Charles Barkley to go along with Clyde Drexler and Olujawon but fell short. The Rockets now possess one of the most exciting players in the game in Yao Ming, the 7 foot 6 inch tall center from China."
Houston Rocket Information
"The Houston Rockets are in the NBA Western Conference Midwest Division. Division rivals include the Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs and Utah Jazz. Major rivalries include Rockets vs. Jazz, Rockets vs. Lakers, Rockets vs. Mavericks and Rockets vs. Suns."
Compaq Center
"The Compaq Center in Houston is home to the Houston Rockets, the WNBA’s Houston Comets and the AHL’s Houston Aeros. The 2002 season marked the last season in the arena for the Rockets who will move into a downtown arena. The Compaq Center will continue to host numerous family and entertainment events such as the Harlem Globetrotters, Santana, Elton John and Billy Joel." |
