Denver Nugget History

"The Denver Nuggets, once a member of the ABA, became a member of the NBA community in 1976 when the two leagues merged. Although the team has yet to win a championship it can boast that in 1994 it became the first number eight seed in the playoffs to knock out a number one seed. Let by defensive intimidator Dikembe Mutumbo, who set a playoff record with thirty-eight blocks in one series, the Nuggets continued to make the playoffs for the next couple years though never reaching the Promised Land. The Nuggets have had their share of great players including Dan Issel, Alex English and Kiki Vandeweghe. Originally the Denver Rockets, the Nuggets have called Colorado their home since the beginning."

Denver Nugget Information

"The Nuggets play in the NBA Western Conference Midwest Division. Division rivals include the Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs and Utah Jazz. Major rivalries include Nuggets vs. Sonics, Nuggets vs. Spurs, and Nuggets vs. Mavericks."

Pepsi Center

"The Pepsi Center, home to the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and the AFL’s Denver Crush opened in 1999. The Pepsi Center can hold up to 19,000 people and is situated in a 4.6-acre plot of land in Denver’s central Platte Valley. The Pepsi Center is one of the few sporting venues in the country that provides a separate practice facility for its team. The Pepsi Center also hosts numerous entertainers including David Gray, Pearl Jam, Jimmy Buffet and the National Arenacross Series."
