Utah Jazz
History
"The Utah Jazz began as the New Orleans Jazz in 1974, and then struggled through a decade at the bottom before emerging as perennial contenders in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The original Jazz lineup featured high-scoring hall of famer ""Pistol Pete"" Maravich, one of the most entertaining players in NBA history. After moving to Utah in 1979, the team's main stays have been guard John Stockton, whom many consider the best passer in league history; and Karl Malone, a forward who has combined power and grace to become one of the dominant players of his time. Although the Jazz have been a perennial powerhouse in the NBA for a while the NBA championship has eluded Stockton and Malone."
Utah Jazz Information
"The Jazz play in the NBA Western Conference Midwest Division. Division rivals include the Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs. Major rivalries include Jazz vs. Mavericks, Jazz vs. Spurs, Jazz vs. Lakers and Jazz vs. Kings."
Delta Center
"The Jazz play in the Delta Center located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. The $94 million arena opened in 1991 and is also home to the WNBA’s Starzz. The Delta Center is the largest arena within a five-state radius, including Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado with capacities of up to 20,400 people. Though it has primarily been identified as the home of the NBA's Utah Jazz, the facility hosts numerous events with its multiple use floor, including most major touring concerts, rodeos, ice shows, family shows, circuses, motor sports, hockey and large conventions." |
