Miami Heat
History
"After losing the first 17 games in franchise history the Miami Heat have made great strides in the NBA. The franchise started in 1988 and has yet to win a championship. However, the franchise started moving in the right direction in 1995 when they hired longtime Laker and Knick coach Pat Riley to lead the team. Now a hallmark of the Heat, Riley has instilled a sense of urgency and defensive intensity to the team. After a series of disappointing playoff loses to the Knicks in the late 90s, the Heat are looking to climb to the top of the NBA ladder once again."
Miami Heat Information
"The Heat play in the NBA Eastern Conference Atlantic Division. Division rivals include the New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards. Major rivalries include Heat vs. Knicks, Heat vs. 76ers, Heat vs. Pacers and Heat vs. Raptors."
American Airlines Arena
"The Heat moved into the brand new America Airlines arena in the beginning of the 2000 season. The $175 million arena seats approximately 20,000 people for basketball games and counts the Heat as its only regular inhabitant. The arena boasts views of the city skyline and bay from all concourses and emphasizes the tropical atmosphere of Miami in its design. The arena also hosts family and entertainment events such as Santana, LL Cool J and the Harlem Globetrotters." |
