Atlanta Hawk History

"Although not a team one associates with basketball tradition, the Atlanta Hawks are one of the 17 founding teams of the NBA. The team was originally named the Tri-Cities Blackhawks and was shared by three teams on the Mississippi River. In 1958, as the St. Louis Hawks, the franchise won its only championship. In 1968 the team moved to Atlanta and has been home to many legendary players including Bob Pettit, Lou Hudson, ""Pistol"" Pete Maravich and one of the best dunkers in the history of the league, Dominique ""Human Highlight Film"" Wilkins."
