LA Clippers
History
"The Clippers have been in the NBA since 1970 when they joined the league as the Buffalo Braves. Following the 1978 season the Clippers relocated to Southern California were they spent the next six years in beautiful San Diego before moving up North to Los Angeles. The Clippers have spent much of their NBA life as bottom feeders in the NBA food chain. For the start of the 1999 season the Clippers moved into the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles and share their home court with the other L.A. team, the Lakers. However with a promising nucleus of players, which owner Donald Sterling needs to keep intact, the Clippers could be competitive in the years to come."
LA Clippers Information
"The Clippers play in the NBA Western Conference Pacific Division. Division rivals include the Golden State Warriors, L.A. Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Minnesota Timberwolves, Portland Trailblazers and the Seattle Supersonics. Major rivalries include Clippers vs. Lakers, Clippers vs. Warriors and Clippers vs. Bulls."
Staples Center
"The Staples Center has been home to the Clippers since the beginning of the 1999 season. The arena is home to five professional sport franchises, the Clippers, the L.A. Lakers, the NHL’s L.A. Kings, the AFL’s L.A. Avengers and the WNBA’s L.A. Sparks. Since it’s opening in October of 1999, the Staples Center has hosted such entertainers as Madonna, N’Sync, Depeche Mode and the 42nd and 43rd Grammy Awards. The $330 million facility can seat up to 20,000 people for a basketball game. The venue also set a record as with home-office supplier Staples forking up $100 million for the naming rights to the arena." |
